Dear Meredith,
My Illinois CLE deadline is coming up soon and I heard there was a rule change a couple of years ago while I was finishing up my last cycle. Is there anything new I need to know for this June 30?
Signed,

Dear Staying Fresh in IL,
Illinois did indeed modify their rules to include a specific minimum for Diversity and Inclusion (D/I) credits as part of their existing Professional Responsibility requirement. The new rule went into effect on July 1, 2017, and impacted all subsequent two-year reporting periods. That’s why you haven’t had to do this before - your last cycle ended the day before this new rule went into effect!
Now that you’re finishing up the reporting period that began on July 1, 2017 and ends on June 30, 2019, you have to comply with the new requirement. (For all you readers who are in an even-year reporting cycle, you’ll need to complete this new requirement by June 30, 2020.)
If you’re in a pinch to finish this in the next few days, we have some great courses already available for D/I credit. If you want some more information about what the requirement is all about, check out my previous blog post and our CLE Requirements page for Illinois!
Happy watching!
